2008 World Mission Theme

Assemblies of God World Missions (worldmissions.ag.org) represents a growing family of more than 4,500 people — 2,691 appointed missionaries, 640 missionary associates and 1,400 missionary children — scattered throughout 212 countries and territories. These dedicated men and women, along with their children, are taking the gospel to cities, urban areas and remote villages, telling a lost world that Christ loves them and came to redeem them from their sins. Together they work with more than 303,000 national pastors in six geographical regions — Africa, Asia Pacific, Eurasia, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean and Northern Asia.

A word that accurately describes Assemblies of God World Missions today is “unprecedented.” The worldwide Fellowship now numbers more than 57 million members and adherents with more than 295,000 churches and preaching points. The doors of opportunity to preach the gospel of Christ also are unprecedented as missionaries and national believers minister to those who have never heard.

GIVE

Christian Assembly has been supporting missionaries both home and around the world for over 36 years.  In 2007, Christian Assembly gave over $57,000 to over 50 missionaries and missions organizations in every continent of the world.  Romans 10:14 says, “How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed?  And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard?  And how shall they hear without a preacher?  And how shall they preach unless they are sent?”  It is up to us to continue to send people to preach the Gospel throughout the world.  Jesus gave us this mandate in Matthew 28 when He said, “Go into the world and make disciples of all nations.”  He also said that we are to “be witnesses not only in Jerusalem, but Samaria and the outer most parts of the world.”  People are being reached with the Gospel all over the world because of missions.

Every second Sunday of each month is "Missions Sunday."  We highlight missions and collect a special missions offering.  We thank you for all of your prayers and support for our missionaries and missions projects.

Every year we also take a short term missions trip.  In February 2008, we are sending a third team to the City of Refuge Children's Home in Jamaica (www.thecityofrefugechildrenshome.org).  The City of Refuge is a ministry to the homeless children of Jamaica. It is made up of two homes, in two very distinct locations on the island of Jamaica. The first home is located in Content Gap, 12 miles northeast of the City of Kingston, in the lovely Blue Mountains. The second home is located in Christiana, in the center of Jamaica. Both locations offer the benefit of a home-style environment where children are taught the basic principles of a Christ-centered family life.

The City of Refuge is incorporated as a company with the Government of Jamaica. It is licensed as a children's home organization with the Child Developmental Agency of Jamaica and can receive children from infancy through thirteen years of age.
